Dr. Alexander Ritter studied medicine at the Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg i. B. (Germany) and the University of South Florida, Tampa (USA). After training in internal medicine he pursued a fellowship in nephrology in the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen and the University Hospital Zurich where he has a position as attending physician since 2019. He is head of the kidney stone clinic since 2019 and in charge of the consultant service in nephrology since February 2023. In his clinical work he is interested in particular in general nephrology, transplantation and nephrolithiasis. After gaining experience in basic research in nephrology as a medical student in Freiburg i. B., he is now active in national and international clinical trials and observational studies in the field of acid-base disorders, transplantation and nephrolithiasis.

Dr. Ritter enjoys sharing knowledge and his enthusiasm about nephrology with younger colleagues and to teach medical students at the UZH.
