Prof. Andrew Hall studied medicine at Cambridge University, UK, and trained in nephrology in London, specializing in tubular diseases. He completed a PhD in renal physiology at University College London, and undertook postdoctoral training in the US. Since 2013 he has led the Structural and Functional Imaging Group at the Institute of Anatomy, University of Zurich (UZH), with joint appointments in the medical and science faculties. His research focuses on the development and application of advanced live imaging approaches, including intravital microscopy, to elucidate dynamic cellular mechanisms of kidney diseases, with the long-term goal of developing new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Prof. Hall is also passionate about educating and inspiring the next generation of doctors. In addition to teaching students at the UZH, he leads the kidney block at the ETH Zurich medical school and lectures on postgraduate courses for nephrology trainees. Prof. Hall is the founding director of the Zurich Kidney Center (ZKC).
