Dr. Gregor Weiss studied biological chemistry at the Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna and completed his PhD at ETH Zürich. He subsequently established a research sub-group at ETH Zürich focusing on high-resolution imaging of host–pathogen interactions in a near-native state using high-end imaging techniques, such as cryo-electron tomography.

Since 2025, he has been Assistant Professor at the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University of Zürich. His research aims to uncover the molecular principles underlying recurrent and persistent infections, with a particular focus on urinary tract infections.
