Prof. Vartan Kurtcuoglu is the head of the The Interface Group at the Institute of Physiology. He has joint appointments at the Faculties of Medicine and Science of the University of Zurich as associate professor of Computational and Experimental Physiology, and he is an accredited professor in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich. His research vision is to answer fundamental questions of fluid physiology and address corresponding clinical needs through the convergence of engineering, biological and medical research. To this end, his laboratory combines computational techniques such as computational fluid dynamics, structural finite element analysis, and machine learning with experimental methods, including magnetic resonance imaging and synchrotron radiation-based micro computed tomography.
